For instance, you can construct the terrain base using Woodland Scenics plaster molds, apply static grass with the Noch Grass-Master, and add fine foliage or hedges from Busch and Faller. The materials blend together seamlessly in terms of chemistry and realism.
Most terrain-building materials—such as scenic glue, model water, and scatter terrain—are scale-neutral and work for any layout. However, scale-specific items like tunnel portals, structured trees, and laser-cut buildings from Faller or Noch are precisely marked for popular scales including H0 (1:87), TT (1:120), N (1:160), and Z (1:220).
An electronic flocking device like the Noch Gras-Master is not strictly necessary for all scenery materials, but it is highly recommended for realistic results. Standard fine turf and short groundcover can easily be scattered by hand onto the glue. However, when using static grass fibers (2.5 mm and longer), the electrostatic field of the Gras-Master is essential to make the grass blades stand vertically upright, just like real grass.
For grass application and landscaping, we highly recommend dedicated solvent-free scenic or grass glues from brands like Noch or Busch. These adhesives offer a longer working time and dry completely matte, flexible, and transparent. For track ballasting and basic sub-structures, a mixture of standard white PVA glue diluted with water and a drop of dish soap also works well.
