Description

The ÖBB steam locomotive 638.1809 represents a former Prussian P 8, later classified as Class 38, one of the most widely built steam locomotives in Europe with nearly 4,000 units produced. After the turmoil of both World Wars, several locomotives remained in Austria, where five units were operated as Class 638 by the ÖBB.

This N‑scale model depicts the locomotive in Era III and comes equipped with a factory‑installed DCC decoder (MX617). The boiler is modelled without smoke deflectors, giving the locomotive its distinctive appearance.

The model features 4 powered axles, 2 traction‑tyre axles, a 2‑headlight front signal, and a finely detailed construction suitable for layouts with a minimum radius of 192 mm.
